Blommer, Alan R.

Alan Richard Blommer was born on April 11, 1939 in Wheaton, Minnesota and died on February 21, 2016 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 76.  He passed away at home peacefully in his sleep after a 6 year battle with Dementia.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and very proud of his family.  He met his wife Mary in Florence, Texas and they were married for 53 years.

He grew up on a farm in Minnesota, but the family spent their winters in Texas.  After marriage, he was a grain farmer in Wahpeton, North Dakota.  He loved that farm, but eventually sold it to start a citrus grove care business in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.  While living in Mission, Texas, he was called to become a preacher, so he sold the citrus grove care business and moved his family to Dallas, Texas.  He graduated from Dallas Baptist University and received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  He was a Southern Baptist minister at the University Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas and loved to preach God’s Word.  In later years, he was self-employed and started several small businesses.  He spent several years in long haul truck driving which included two years in Iraq as military support.  He enjoyed gardening, traveling and especially liked the mountains.  He loved to work and was happiest when he was busy.

Preceded in death by his father George, mother Norma, sister Joanne and brother George.  Survived by his wife Mary, son Alan Jr., daughter Scarlet, son-in-law Roy Bell and granddaughters Shaina & Ashley Bell.  Also, Ashley’s fiancé Adam Robinson and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on February 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm with the viewing starting one hour before at Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Homes 19310 Preston Rd. Dallas, TX. 75252.
